This degree is awarded to students who complete 60 hours of credit in college-level courses. The courses are often called "transfer" programs because they provide the two-year foundation for transferring to a four-year college and earning a bachelor's degree.

Requirements for the Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree

1. Credit for at least 60 semester hours of college work, excluding developmental courses.

a. Fulfillment of the 42-hour core curriculum as part of the 60-hour total.

b. At least 25 percent of semester hours must be earned in college-level courses through McLennan.

2. An overall grade point average of at least 2.0.

3. Successful completion of the college's Developmental Education Plan for the Texas Success Initiative.

4. Payment of all financial obligations to the college.

5. Successful completion of a College Success/Learning Framework course either PSYC 1100/1300 or EDUC 1100/1300 (this course will also count toward core completion).

Recital Credit is required each semester. This may be satisfied by attending 15 approved performances each semester.

Voice majors take Diction MUSI 1160, 1161, 2160, 2161 for transfer.

MUSI 1157 Opera is an ensemble option for Applied Voice students.

Music Education emphasis take MUEN 1151 02 Conducting

Marketable Skills

1. Aquire knowledge to explore careers as a composer, producer, teacher, and performer.

2. Develop creative ideas, critical thinking, ability to focus, ability to visualize with a plan to realize vision.

3. Develop interpersonal skills as a professional such as effective communication, problem solving, teamwork, adaptability, self motivation, and social and public responsibility.

All first-time-in-college students are required to complete a Learning Framework course. Students who are TSI exempt or must complete one section of developmental education should enroll in PSYC 1100 or EDUC 1100.
