Theatre Arts

The Associate of Arts degree in Theater is intended to provide students with the courses that focus on a strong foundation in the creative, technical and historical aspects of the theater arts.

Students who plan to transfer and continue their study of Theater at a four-year institution should refer to the catalog of the institution to which they plan to transfer and consult with a full-time faculty member of our Theater department.

Requirements for the Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree

1. Credit for at least 60 semester hours of college work, excluding developmental courses.

a. Fulfillment of the 42-hour core curriculum as part of the

60-hour total.

b. At least 25 percent of semseter hours must be earned in

college-level courses through McLennan.

2. An overall grade point average of at least 2.0

3. Successful completion of the college's Developmental Education Plan for the Texas Success Initiative.

4. Payment of all financial obligations to the college.

Students cast in McLennan Theater Productions are expected to enroll in a Rehearsal & Performance Course as advised:

Dram 1120, 1121, 2120, 2121; Music Theater Workshop:

Dram 1161, or DANC 1171

Marketable Skills

1. Students will learn skills such as oral communication proficiency, collaboration with others, adaptability, time management, and adherence to standards.

2. Students will have career choices in performance, set design, teaching, and show production.

3. Students will develop critical thinking and ability to focus as well as learn customer service skills, goal-oriented work ethics, leadership, and budgeting and marketing skills.

Visual Arts

The Associate of Arts degree in Visual Arts is intended to provide students with the courses that focus on a strong foundation in the creative, technical and historical aspects of the visual arts.

Students who plan to transfer and continue their study of Visual Arts at a four-year institution should refer to the catalog of the institution to which they plan to transfer and consult with a full-time faculty member of our Visual Arts department.

Requirements for the Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree

1. Credit for at least 60 semester hours of college work, excluding developmental courses.

a. Fulfillment of the 42-hour core curriculum as part of the

60-hour total.

b. At least 25 percent of semester hours must be earned in

college-level courses through McLennan.

2. Students will have career choices in photography, illustration, teaching, art curation, and web-site design.

3. Students will develop creativity, self motivation, critical thinking, and the ability to focus and visualize.
