Marketable Skills

1. Acquire knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles of chemistry, including properties and states of matter, chemical reactions, thermodynamics, chemical and atomic structure, measurements, and laboratory analyses.

2. Develop problem solving and critical thinking skills, both written and orally, to identify and evaluate possible approaches and solutions to problems.

3. Develop qualitative and quantitative skills through the observation, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data using the scientific method and scientific inquiry.

4. Work effectively with teams in classroom and laboratory environments to develop teamwork and leadership skills.

5. Engage in safe laboratory practices, and be able to recognize, troubleshoot, and prevent chemical safety hazards.
