The study of analysis and writing of tonal melody and diatonic harmony, including all diatonic chords and seventh chords in root position and inversions, non-chord tones, and functional harmony.

Introduction to more complex topics, such as modulation, may occur.

Optional correlated study at the keyboard.

Concurrent enrollment in MUSI 1182 and 1117 is required.

Prerequisite: MUSI 1311 or acceptable grade on Theory Placement Exam.
