Introduction to the techniques of writing marketable songs, including the writing of lyrics and melodies using commercial harmony and forms, setting lyrics to music, developing lyrical and musical "hooks." Analysis of the marketplace, and development of a production plan for a song demo.

Must have taken MUSC 2213, or MUSC 2311 with a minimum grade of C or have division chair approval.
